Danni & Don’s Same Day Edit Wedding Film in London

Well, it’s been a while since I blogged, that’s for sure! As I mentioned in my previous blog post, we are taking on fewer weddings at the moment as yours truly is currently working towards getting a post-graduate degree at the University of Sheffield. No need to despair, we still have gorgeous wedding films to share with you and have several lined up.

Danni & Don’s Same Day Edit Wedding Film from EverAfterVideos on Vimeo.

Starting off with last weekend’s wedding of Danni and Don in London. Danni and Don are currently living on the other side of the Atlantic in New York, but decided to travel back to the UK to celebrate their wedding with their family and friends. They were actually already married for over a year when they said their vows and exchanged their rings on a cruise down the river Thames.

Our day started off at the Radisson Blu hotel on Canary Warf where Danni was getting ready. While she was getting ready Don, along with his ushers, had to prove himself worthy of Danni in the traditional Chinese way by going through a series of games devised by the bridesmaids. Let’s just say it was a mix of queasy, painful and embarrassing, but Don nonetheless passed. Onwards to the North Greenwich pier and onto the M.V. Erasmus for a cruise on the Thames, where Danni and Don had their ceremony. This ceremony, with their friends as celebrants, was completely personalised with fun and touching vows.

After the ceremony, the guests all enjoyed a relaxing cruise in the glorious sunshine while receiving a guided commentary about the sights of London and all the places that have been of significance in Danni and Don’s relationship. After the cruise, the guests were treated to a sumptuous banquet in a nearby Chinese restaurant. And near the end, they showed our Same Day Edit. Yes, it go down a treat!

Louise & Richard’s Wedding at Tissington Hall

Last August we filmed Louise and Richard’s beautiful wedding in the quaint and picturesque village of Tissington in the Peak District. As soon as you arrive in the village and drive up to Tissington Hall, you could hardly imagine a more picturesque setting for a wedding.

Louise and her bridesmaids had the Hall all to themselves that morning. It was a perfectly relaxed morning thanks to the help of Phoebe, the wedding coordinator at Tissington Hall, and Susie, who could easily vie for the award of Most Organised and Helpful Bridesmaid ever! Louise’s wedding dress was absolutely stunning, covered in lace and with a slight antique rose tint, it was just perfect for her. The sparkly Gina shoes certainly made me smile!

After the ceremony at St Mary’s Church, we all went back down the hill for the reception and party. Luckily the weather behaved itself so the guests were able to enjoy both the Hall and the beautiful gardens at Tissington. The wedding breakfast took place in the gorgeously decorated marquee in the gardens of the Hall. The speeches brought both laughter and tears to all the guests, paying tribute to Richard’s Polish heritage and to his brother Andy. When we left after the first dance, the party was in full swing and I am certain everybody had a most wonderful evening!

I hope you will enjoy watching the highlights of their wedding and if you do, please leave us a comment.

We still have a few dates available for this year, but we as we’re taking on fewer weddings this year, make sure you get in touch soon!

All I want for Christmas …

Wow, it has been a while since I updated the blog. We have most certainly been busy here at Ever After and I promise I’ll let you know in a later blog post. There are plenty of summer clips ready to share with you, but I thought I’d update the blog with the most recent clip first and there’s a very good reason for that!

We’re about halfway through the festive season now and December weddings always have something Christmassy about them, you can either embrace it or fight a lost fight. Lucy and Patrick definitely embraced the Christmas cheer. The gorgeous setting of Goodwood House was the amazing backdrop for their wedding. Lucy clearly wanted to make the most out of her wedding day! Her packed day started at 6.00am for the girls, her bridesmaids must like her a lot!

After a fun getting-ready at the Goodwood Hotel, everyone went down to the house in a vintage bus for a 2 pm ceremony. Although the house was already decorated with the Christmas cheer, Lucy had her florists add a few more accents: an unmissable giant mistletoe ball at the very entrance of the house. With some fairy lights strung through it, this was one feature you could not miss. The singers treated the guests to some wonderful carols, including an impromptu carol sing-along when the signing took a bit longer than expected.

Throughout the day we worked alongside Ria from Roses and Poses and had a blast while rushing around making sure we got all our shots. This time there were a few extra unusual shots to get as I’m sure you will notice from the little teaser clip I’m sharing today.

Enjoy!

A most amazing wedding party at Ellenborough Park

Every so often you film a wedding that isn’t just memorable but will re-define your expectations. When Laura contacted us many months ago to film her wedding, she mentioned that she was using the same planner as her sister Sarah a few years before. We remembered Liz from TLC straight away and we knew this would be a wedding to remember.

Ellenborough Park is a beautiful setting at any time, but Liz transformed it into a most amazing backdrop for the ultimate wedding party.

After a few drops of rain and an amazing musical performance, Laura walked down the aisle in a beautiful gown by Sassi Holford to join Nic. The tone for the wedding day was set: gorgeous backdrops, amazing flower arrangements and excellent music performances. After the ceremony our couple and guests walked to the marquee under the musical accompaniment of the London Essentials: a wonderful sounding , fun-loving and quirky gem of a band. By the end of the drinks reception, the marquee provided a perfect and stunning shelter for a typically British downpour.

The real party started with “the big reveal”, curtains opened and a magnificent dining room was revealed: stunning table settings, gorgeous flowers, a beautiful lighting design and of course more amazing music and dancing. The party had definitely started! With music throughout, every break between courses made the most of the enormous dance floor.  Without further ado: have a look for yourself and enjoy the same day edit.

Annie & Paul, my favourite and hardest wedding to date

I met Annie way back in 2003 on a wedding forum when she was planning her wedding to Adam. I pretty much immediately liked her, she had a fun and bubbly personality, there was no way you couldn’t like her. We filmed her fairytale wedding in July 2004 and stayed in touch. Barely a year after that memorable wedding, tragedy struck and Adam was killed by an elderly driver. I still don’t know how Annie coped, especially as she suffered from 2 auto-immune diseases, but somehow, with the help of her family and friends, she pulled herself through. She is one of the people I admire the most in my life. So I was overjoyed when, thanks to Blossom, the friendliest rescue dog ever, she found love again with Paul. (You can read her proposal story here)

When they got engaged in 2010, I was really looking forward to their wedding, I knew it was going to be something very special. Dozens of emails with ideas, colour schemes, flower arrangements, dresses, venues and bedazzled shoes were wired across the Atlantic. It isn’t very often that I get so closely involved with the planning of a wedding, but oh, the fun I had! With the date set for 29 October 2012, and a venue in St Augustine, Florida, I couldn’t wait!

We travelled down a few days early so we could join in all the fun of the bachelor and bachelorette party, the rehearsal dinner, … and have a ton of fun with our friends Erin and Dennis from Folklore Cinema who came down from Kentucky to assist us with the shoot and were also on duty as the official photographers.

The long awaited wedding was finally upon us! Everybody there was as excited as we were. We all knew what a special day this truly was. One of my favourite moments was the first look. Paul calmly waited on a bridge in the beautiful garden of the Lightner Museum, the moment he saw Annie it all became real and nerves set in. Annie’s reply “I’ve got Valium in my purse” completely typified her.

And come the ceremony, there wasn’t a dry eye in house, even yours truly and Niels had to get our hankies out, which made keeping things in focus rather tricky. The entire ceremony was all about Annie and Paul, they had written a letters to each other and wrote their own very personal and at times funny vows. The ceremony was conducted by their friend Merryl who truly did an amazing job, finding the right balance between the solemness of the occasion and injecting some light-hearted fun. It was the best wedding ceremony we’ve ever witnessed.

When it came to editing this one, I honestly didn’t know where to start. There was just so much good stuff, so much wonderful footage, so many wonderful soundbites. How was I ever going to condense this and do it all justice. And that was for the main video, the highlights were even trickier! But luckily, I seem to have pulled it off as Annie and Paul are over the moon with all and that’s the most important thing to me.

Jessica & Benjamin, a Newport Wedding

I love to travel. Any opportunity I get to travel, I take it. That’s why I love destination weddings. Last year we were lucky enough to go to one amazing wedding in Newport, Rhode Island. When Jessica started telling us all about her wedding day, we couldn’t help but get excited. Venue overlooking the water, cheerleaders, an after party on a yacht at sunset, a polerina, …

The jam-packed day started well before sunrise for us. At 6am we arrived at the house where Jessica and her bridesmaids were getting ready. Jessica and Ben exchanged some gifts before the wedding, Jessica received a beautiful and timeless Tiffany bracelet, Benjamin became the proud owner of Patriots season tickets, not easy to get by as far as I can gather. Before the ceremony, Jessica and Benjamin had their first look at their reception venue, the Belle Mer. I like a “first look”, it’s this lovely and quiet moment just between the bride and groom (and us). It’s always so sweet and emotional. Off to the ceremony at St Josephs in the Newport trolley.

After the ceremony, the bridal party went to the gardens of one of the famous mansions Newport for a photo session while the guests made their way to the Belle Mer. While I started editing their Same Day Edit (first time I did a Same Day Edit at a destination wedding), the bridal party made their entrance accompanied by the spectacular acrobatics of high school cheerleaders. I’m still a little miffed that I didn’t get to see that in real life. The party had started! And then there was a polerina, another bit of entertainment I hadn’t seen at a wedding before. It’s in between a ballerina and a poledancer, and it is quite something to behold! The party concluded with the screening of the Same Day Edit, as usual, this brought the house down.

Jessica had changed into a bit more of party wedding dress and we were off to the Arabella, stunning 160′ tri-masted tall ship, for a sunset cruise. The entertainment was provided by Ricky Duran, a most excellent singer Jessica and Benjamin met in a bar in Worchester, MA. It was the first time Ricky performed at a wedding and he was quite the hit, rightfully so. After sailing around Newport, the ship docked and we all departed, except for Jessica and Benjamin who spent the night onboard as the only passengers.

Valentine’s Day Promotions

I’m sure the Valentine’s Day cards will have hit the shops somewhere in December, but as we’re about to hit February, the day is coming close. Niels and I love Valentine’s! Typically we spend the day in the kitchen cooking up some special treats to enjoy later that night. As it is the only relevant ‘festive day’ for our line of work, we’d like to do something special for any bride’s-to-be out there. Starting Monday we’ll offer a 5% discount on our Same Day Edit packages and a 10% discount on all our main wedding films. There’s no catch, as long as we are still available for your day, just make sure to book us by the 15th of February to receive the discount.

It’s been a while since I shared a clip on the blog, so I’ll make up for that today. The clip I’m sharing is the trailer to a wedding that is very special to us. Annie and Paul are an amazing couple and very close friends of ours. We were thrilled to be there for their wedding day and I can honestly say this is the first wedding were both Niels and I suffered from a moment of blurry vision… Yes, we both cried at this wedding, but then again, so did every single guest at this wedding! It is a great joy to watch 2 people who you hold so dear get married and declare their love to each other, especially when the vows truly are their very own words and hold so much meaning. I hope you’ll enjoy a glimpse into their day.

The wedding of Helen & Matt

As you might remember, a few month ago I shared the same day edit of Helen and Matt, giving you a glimpse into their big day. It’s now time to share a bit more of this fantastic day. From start to finish, their big day was pretty much picture perfect. Starting at the gorgeous setting of Helen’s parent’s home over a wonderful ceremony with brass band music and finishing in a big party at Tankersley Manor.

Although I was pretty busy all day with the Same Day Edit, it was wonderful to come across some familiar faces at the wedding. Our friend Matt Lollar took care of the photography, which resulted in some great shots as as well as a lot of fun. In the evening he even convinced us to be on the ‘other’ side of the lens and took some hilarious fancy dress pictures of the whole team in the photo booth. Just check out our Facebook page if you’d like to see this rather rare evidence of us on the wrong side of a camera.

The evening entertainment didn’t stop there, one of our favourite bands was playing: The Bootleggers! I first encountered them during way back at one of our first weddings when I had just started Ever After in 2002 and ever since they’ve proven to really get the party started. And as you’ll see below, in this case they also got the video started.

Without further ado, please enjoy Helen and Matt’s wedding film!

Our competition winners tied the knot!

Remember that competition we ran earlier this year to celebrate 10 years of Ever After? You know, the one where we gave away a free wedding film? The competition that was so close that until the very last minute, just before midnight could have gone to any of the 2 front runners? Well, last Saturday our winners, Rebecca & Jonathan, got hitched and we were there to cover it all.

The setting was Harlaxton Manor in Lincolnshire. This is one seriously impressive venue with a long drive way leading you up to a Victorian manor house of epic proportions, there is no way anyone would not be impressed by this place. And this place is the British campus of the University of Evansville in Indiana, USA, some lucky kids actually go to school here.

A thoroughly excited bride met us at the gates and gave us an enthusiastic tour of her venue before she got ready in the bridal suite. A little later, Jonathan arrived in a vintage sports car. We were all set for the ceremony in the great hall. Rebecca’s entrance was just magical, walking up the long aisle alone definitely made quite the dramatic impact. And then they added a bit of fun to the solemn occasions by singing “Bring me sunshine” with a jazz hands finish.

After the ceremony, the weather turned out to be rather lovely and sunny, so we managed to make the most of the venue by enjoying the gardens too. Then it was time for me to start editing their wedding film. As all their guests had been drafted in to vote for them, there was already quite a bit of talk about this wedding video. So I couldn’t disappoint, and I didn’t. The Same Day Edit brought the house down. Rebecca and Jonathan were ever so lovely and sweet, I’m happy we were a part of their wedding day. They were very worthy winners.

Alice & John

Alice and John tied the knot back in July on what turned out to be a lovely summer’s day. The bride’s prep took place at Alice parent’s home, a beautiful farm house in a scenic countryside setting. The church, St Mary’s in Bosworth, was equally quaint and lovely.

With Alice’s creative background this wedding was planned in exquisite detail with personal touches all over. My favourite was probably the personalised hoodies Alice designed for herself and her bridesmaids, featuring all of them as Disney-esque princesses. A theme that suited Alice’s dress perfectly, a dreamy tulle wedding gown by Ronald Joyce, fit for a fairytale. And in the evening the fairytale dress theme continued when Alice adorned her dress with fairy lights!

After the ceremony, we dashed to the reception at Kelmarsh Hall, where Alice and John had provided an ice cream cart for their guests! But before the guests arrived we went for a walk around the picturesque gardens with their photographer Darren Cresswell. It was a great pleasure of working with Darren again, who met at Kelly and Niels’ wedding last year. And just like last year, it was a joy to work with him again. You can see Alice & John’s engagement shoot with Darren here.

So without further ado, I hope you enjoy Alice & John’s wedding film!
